High frequency ultrasound and colour doppler images used to identify the blood flow in maternal (A) uterine artery (UtA), (B) umbilical artery (UmA) and (C) foetal middle cerebral artery (MCA). Blue and Red colour Doppler relates to the respective away or toward direction of blood flow in relation to the ultrasound probe which is positioned at the top of each image. Pulsatility index (PI) from pulse-wave Doppler blood flow profiles in UtA (D) , UmA (E) and MCA (F) in control ( n =4) and heat ( n =5). Corresponding heart rate (HR) n UtA (G), UmA (H) and MCA (I) . UtA peak systolic velocity ratio ( J ) index was calculated as a ratio of the two systolic velocity waves. Cerebroplacental ratio index (K) calculated as a ratio from MCA and UmA PI.
